Meet The Staff

Business

Jennifer, Director of Operations

Jennifer has been administrating the business of Huckabee Dental since February 2007. She loves Huckabee Dental so much that she drives from Mansfield every day to be here. Jennifer has been in the dental industry since she was 16 when she started her very first job as a part-time sterilization tech. 20-something years later, her advanced knowledge in every aspect of the dental office enables her to provide guidance and training in all facets of our practice. She has worked diligently to create an atmosphere of teamwork and respect, making Huckabee Dental an awesome place to work. And she didn’t write this, either. On the negative side, Jennifer can mess up a perio chart faster than you can blink, so the hygienists have learned the hard way to avoid her help at all costs.

She and her husband, Trent, recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. Together they have three gorgeous girls, Micah, Salem, and Chloe, and two dobermans, Husker and Big Red. Want to guess which college team they cheer for? Jennifer is currently working, ever so slowly, toward a degree in accounting and will hopefully be graduating sometime within the next 10 years or so. Her motto is "better late than never."

Lisa, Business Manager

The year 2000 brought Lisa to our practice and things have never been the same since! Lisa’s smile lights up a room, but don’t let that fool you. She’ll fight when she has to, especially for your insurance benefits! Lisa knows just about every patient by name, and most of our patients look for her smiling face whenever they come in for appointments. Lisa still loves using her vast knowledge of dentistry to assist patients. If you don’t know the answer, Lisa will go above and beyond to get it for you.  She is always ready and willing to help and is an invaluable asset to our office.

Lisa recently found fame, if you call the ability to be Googled fame, when her wedding ceremony (and the big kiss) was recorded and featured during a local 11/11/11 news broadcast. When she isn’t signing autographs, she enjoys singing in her church choir, spending time with her godchild, London Ray, and learning the latest dance moves from her daughters, Jae and Jasmine (ask her to do “Pop, Lock and Drop” the next time you see her!)

Danielle, Treatment Coordinator

In January 2011, Danielle (Dani for short) became a new Huckabee Dental staff member. Danielle came to Texas from Utah last year and brought with her over 15 years of dental experience in the business office as well as clinical assisting. She immediately fit in with our crazy team and constantly proclaims her love for her new job. We constantly reiterate that flattery will get her everywhere.

She is originally from California and states she would wear flip flops 24-7 if she could. She and her husband James have two children, Mia and Jacoby. She enjoys running and watching her husband compete in marathons. She loves to travel, in an airplane, not on foot. Danielle keeps things positive and always has a smile on her face. She does have one downfall, however. She hasn’t adapted to Texas quite as fast as some of our other recent transplants. Need proof? Ask her to pronounce “y’all” the next time you are in the office.

Shelby, Treatment Coordinator

Shelby joined us in October 2011. She grew up in the Big Sky state of Montana and attended Southwestern State University in Oregon on a volleyball scholarship. She moved to Keller, TX, in 2001 and soon after began her career in dentistry. With ten years of experience in both the business and clinical setting, Shelby has a knack for explaining treatment with an uncomplicated, Shelby-esque flair that puts patients at ease and makes them smile.

Shelby has a son named Cooper and a great dane named Emma. She eats, breathes, and sleeps all things football, loves playing and watching sports, and is a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Oregon Ducks. Although she spent this past Thanksgiving at a local Whataburger, she swears she loves to travel, especially to the Midwest to see her family.

Regina, Receptionist

Regina will warmly greet you when you come to our office. She joined us as our receptionist in September of 2011. Born and raised in Texas, she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising. She spent the first ten years after graduation with a career in the advertising industry. Life then moved her to Tennessee where she worked for a large dermatology practice in Nashville, then to Florida where she worked for a facial plastic surgeon, then back to Texas where we snatched her up to teach her all about dentistry.

All told, Regina brings with her over 20 years of customer service experience. She has been such a welcome addition to our business office. When she isn’t brightening up our office, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her Shih-Poo, Reno, who is the love of her life. She also loves tropical beach vacations. Is it actually necessary for one to profess a love of tropical getaways? It should go without saying…that’s a given for all of us.

Patient Services

Kelly, Patient Services Manager

We welcomed Kelly, AKA “The Voice”, with open arms in October 2011. Kelly joined our Patient Service Center when she moved to Texas from the Grand Canyon State: Go Cardinals! Go Suns! Go Sun Devils! (She made us say that.) Born and raised in Indiana, Kelly played women’s basketball for and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Secondary Education. Kelly loves spending time with her family. She has one daughter, Brittany, who also played college basketball. She has 2 adopted kittens, Henry Theodore and Stella Marie, and a boyfriend who is really tall too!

Kelly has worked in the dental field for over 13 years and brings an expert level of customer service to our office. She is a member of The Village Church and has a big heart for serving others. She recently traveled to Bulembu, Africa on a mission trip to help care for the orphaned children affected by AIDS and HIV there. In between working here and her other charitable work, she loves to shop. Oh yeah, and she LOVES Dr. Pepper.

Christina, RDA, Patient Coordinator

Christina is another great addition to our Patient Services department. She graduated from Trinity Baptist Temple Academy in 2009 and went on to graduate from dental assisting school in 2010. When you call our office, Christina’s friendly voice is usually one of the first to answer. When she isn’t answering phones, verifying insurance, or scheduling appointments for us, Christina can be found at her boyfriend, Austin’s, baseball games or hanging out with her dog, Kash. She enjoys spending her summers fishing at the lake and her winters cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys.

We hope you find Christina as special as we do. It takes a truly special woman to admit that she loves the smell of motor cross. But when we found out Christina came from a postal family (her mom, dad, step-dad, grandmother, and a few aunts and uncles all work for the post office) it all started making sense.

Kristy, Patient Coordinator

Kristy recently moved from Pennsylvania to Texas and came to work for us soon after. Our first priority was to immerse her in all things Texan. We are so very proud that she has already learned that “pop” is a verb. To top it off, she has several years of dental office experience under her belt and has made a huge positive impact already. Kristy loves interacting with patients and her helpful, friendly demeanor is always available to assist patient when they call our office.

In her spare time, Kristy enjoys going to and being in theatre productions and calls herself a pianist. She and her husband, Erik, have two cats, Tater and Gordon. We are sure you will love meeting Kristy. She is a self proclaimed social butterfly but we still felt it was important to duct tape her to the receptionist chair after making her recite the daily mantra: “I love to smile! I love to smile!” on her first day. We feel a little innocent initiation never hurts anybody. We hear pulling the duct tape off does, though.

Donetta, Patient Coordinator

We are pleased to introduce Donetta as our Account Specialist. Donetta joined us in January 2012 as an addition to our growing Patient Services department. Donetta was born and raised in Texas and is the baby of her family with two older sisters. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and long time boyfriend and listening to music.

She recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in General Studies and was eager to break into the dental industry. She has such a sweet and calm demeanor that we decided there was no better way to commence her dental training than to throw her to the wolves with insurance and accounts receivable. Even after all that, she still wears the huge smile that initially won our hearts over, so we think she’s a keeper!

Clinical

Chelsa, RDA, Clinical Manager

Chelsa has been with Huckabee Dental since July 2007. She lives in Azle with her beautiful daughter, Cheyenne, and her fiancé, Robert. Chelsa actually admits that she enjoys hunting and riding four-wheelers. We’ve all developed post-traumatic hunting trip disorder by being forced to look at her grotesque expedition pictures. Chelsa’s real passions are spending time with her family and friends and shopping, undoubtedly for camouflage.

Chelsa is a wonderful addition to our staff and brings years of dental experience to our office. As the Clinical Manager, she keeps the doctors on their toes. She is a registered phlebotomist and assists the doctors with surgical and sedation cases. Her sweet spirit and gentle nature always put our patients at ease. She’s the only one we know of who can stretch a simple “Thank You” into four syllables with her charming Southern drawl.

Tricia, RDA, Clinical Assistant

Tricia, a military brat born in Frankfurt, Germany, was trained to be an assistant by her father, who is a dentist, while she was in high school. She says, “He forced me to work to pay off damages I caused when I wrecked my car!” We say, “Good man, Col. Johnston!” because we are now reaping the benefits. She graduated from Kansas University with a degree in graphic design. After that, she moved to Colorado to snowboard (and dental assist). After a horrible snowboard accident broke her back and nearly paralyzed her, Tricia moved to Alaska to heal and rehabilitate. Then it was off to Atlanta for a year, then to Pennsylvania, where she met her husband, Scott. Tricia finally got to Texas in August 2011 after she and her husband moved to Keller. Since she has been here, she has been trained in the fine art of crown making and has become certified in the CADCAM technology. In addition to being a great assistant, Tricia helps to fabricate and process our onsite laboratory crowns. Finally, she gets to use that art degree!

Stacey, RDA, Clinical Assistant

Stacey came on board as an addition to our chairside assistant team in November 2011. She has been in the dental field since 1996 and has worn many hats including being an instructor at an assisting school. Stacey is married to the love of her life, Billy Jack, and is the mom to three awesome kiddos, two girls and a boy. One of Stacey’s favorite mottos is: Live. Laugh. Love. She is a great example of that motto and we are sure you will love to laugh lively with her when you meet her.

She loves the three F’s: food, family movie nights, and photography (ok, cut us some slack.) When she isn’t in the office and snapping photos, she enjoys frequenting antique malls. She also enjoys quoting movie lines and will rattle them off at the drop of a hat. One of her favorites comes in quite handy in the dental office. “Why are you smiling? Smiling’s my favorite!” Thank you, Buddy the Elf!

Hygiene

Beverly, RDH, Hygiene Manager

Beverly, who has been with Dr. Huckabee for almost 11 years, runs our hygiene department. She has developed a strong and lasting relationship with so many of our patients. Her professionalism and passion for patient care exemplify what Huckabee Dental is all about. Beverly attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and received her Associates in Dental Hygiene in 1984 from Wharton College.

Bev has been a personal trainer for 15 years and enjoys teaching Yoga and Pilates. She and her husband of 16 years, Jeff, attend Irving Bible Church. They moved to Southlake from Coppell about 5 years ago when they realized they needed a bigger house for their "baby", Rocco Kitty, who by the way is potty trained and brushes his teeth twice a day! Seriously! We're working on the video right now.

Jennifer, RDH, Hygienist

Jennifer has been our resident "hygienist with the big blonde hair" since 1998. Jennifer has the ability to make everyone with whom she comes in contact feel like a long lost friend, even when they are meeting her for the very first time. Patients adore her infectious personality…and when we say adore, we mean ADORE. She’s bubbly and energetic (even at 5 o’clock in the morning), and when she laughs in the office, everyone knows it.

Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Midwestern in 1995 and prides herself on building trusting relationships with our patients. She and her husband, Darron, have two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Makenna. They live in Grapevine and are very active in their church. In her spare time, she enjoys scrapbooking and exercising. Wait, what? People really enjoy exercising?

Nancy, RDH, Hygienist

Nancy joined the Huckabee hygiene team in July 2006 bringing with her over 25 years of advanced periodontal experience. Nancy graduated in 1982 with an Associates in Dental Hygiene from Tarrant County College. That was way back when they all had the cute white nurses uniforms and the matching hats. The pictures are classic and really good for a pick me up when you are having a bad day.

Nancy and her husband, David, have four kids, a set of triplet boys and a daughter, who are all in college at the same time! Amazingly, she still finds time to work full time as our hygienist as well as owning/operating a Christian accessories boutique at Main Street Station in Grapevine.  Her hobbies include event planning, interior decorating, and creating custom mums for the crazy Texas homecomings. Whenever we get tired and weary, we just look to Nancy for the inspiration to keep on keeping on.

Kimbra, RDH, Hygienist

Kimbra, the newest member of our hygiene department, joined us in July 2007. She is the sister-in-law to hygienist Jennifer, the sister to Jen's husband, Darron, and the aunt to Jen's daughters, Lauren and Makenna. And yes, there will be a test.

Before attending hygiene school, Kimbra worked as an assistant here and loved it so much she had to come back after she graduated. Kimbra is originally from Oklahoma. We don't hold that against her although she is easily recognized in the office as the girl with the hick accent. Kimbra graduated from Midwestern University with a Bachelors in Dental Hygiene. She and her longtime boyfriend, Jacob, were recently married and are busy renovating their newly purchased home sweet home. Now she's the girl with the hick accent and the "big ol' shiny diamond rang!"

Makesa, RDA, Hygiene Assistant

Makesa graduated from Careers in Dental Assisting as a Registered Dental Assistant in 2011 and became part of our clinical staff soon after. Before that, she attended Rockwall High School and Paris Junior College, where she played high school and college softball. You can see Makesa everywhere in the office. She helps the hygienists, assists the doctors, and works in sterilization when needed. Even though she’s still a newbie, Makesa has already made a positive impact on the office. She is full of energy and keeps us laughing with her dry sense of humor.

When she’s not at the office and not on the road with her commute from Rockwall, Makesa spends time with her family and her doggie, Boss. She and her boyfriend, Jake, love to go country dancing whenever they can and they both enjoyed showing us all up at the last holiday party. She also likes to wakeboard in the summer and is a die-hard Texas Rangers fan.
