First Annual Free Day of Dentistry |
February 23, 2009 -- Huckbee Dental's first annual
Dentistry with a Heart was a huge success.
More than $60,000 in free dental work was performed on over 120 patients as part of the Dentistry With A Heart day on February 13, 2009. Six dentists and about 30 other dental auxiliary volunteered their time at the Southlake office.
Patients started camping out at 8:30 p.m. the night before the big day and a steady crowd remained outside throughout the event. Dentistry With A Heart was started to assist adults who are uninsured, under insured, or unemployed in receiving basic dental care. “Dentistry is the first thing to go on the back burner during difficult financial situations,” Dr. Tim Huckabee said.
Huckabee Dental wants to extend a very special THANK YOU to the following volunteers and businesses who worked so hard and selflessly to bring dentistry to those who were in need.

First 200 people at the Southlake practice on Friday, Feb. 13 get free treatment
SOUTHLAKE, Texas (January 13, 2009) – Dentistry With A Heart, Huckabee Dental's gift of a free day of dentistry, will be held on Friday, February 13th from 7:30- 4:30, providing free fillings, extractions, and cleanings to the first 200 people, aged 18 and up, who show up at the Southlake practice. This year's event will be the first annual Dentistry With A Heart event for Dr. Timothy Huckabee's practice at 505 West Southlake Boulevard, Southlake. At other similar events hosted throughout the country, people begin lining up in the parking lot the night before at approximately 8:00 PM.
In light of the recent news that Southlake was named the Most Affluent Neighborhood in the United States, Dr. Huckabee stated the following, "There is a huge need out there. I am reminded of the old Ray Charles quote. ‘Affluence separates people. Poverty knits 'em together.' I think Southlake defies this logic. Our community is fortunate, not just financially, but also with unified residents who care passionately about our schools, the environment, and quality of life. We spend the rest of the year simply running a traditional dental practice; one day is a pretty small thing but we think it will make a difference in the lives of the people who come to us for help.”
While this maiden voyage of Dentistry With A Heart will be big for Southlake practice and local community, Dr. Huckabee visualizes a day when it becomes bigger still. Dentistry With A Heart continues to be heavily promoted to other dentists in the nation.
Dr. Huckabee and his team do whatever they can on Dentistry With A Heart day to relieve pain and fix problems. Patients who need ongoing care or who have problems that cannot be fixed in one day are referred to community clinics, where they can receive ongoing treatment at low or no cost.
Dentistry With A Heart happens just one day a year. On the other days, Huckabee Dental is a successful dental practice performing a full range of dental procedures including IV and oral sedation, Invisalign, dental implants, periodontal treatment, and cosmetic and family dentistry. - Dentistry With A Heart is Huckabee Dental’s gift of a free day of dentistry held the Friday before Valentine’s Day. It will be held from 7:30-4:30 on Friday, February 13, 2009 and is limited to the first 200 patients aged 18 and up.
- The event was started in Detroit and is growing with over 20 practices around the nations holding their own events on the same day. Six practices in northern states are holding the event during warmer months. Huckabee Dental encourages dentists nationwide to partake in their own Dentistry With A Heart event. .
