Dental Crown Services In Southlake

A dental crown is bonded to a tooth in order to help restore oral health and improve the appearance of your smile. At Huckabee Dental, we often recommend a dental crown to patients whose teeth don’t have enough healthy enamel to support a filling. Dental crowns are also often used to cover a tooth after root canal therapy or to top off a dental implant.

What Is A Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cover bonded over a tooth to restore its shape and strength. Dental crowns are made of porcelain materials, and carefully color matched to your teeth.

A dental crown is the typical standard of care to recreate the appearance and function of a tooth that has been damaged by decay or trauma.

The crown extends down to the gums in order to keep the smile seamlessly natural looking. Our Southlake dental team may recommend a crown to:

  • Cover a dental implant
  • Restore a broken or worn tooth
  • Protect a tooth, weakened from decay, from breaking
  • Hold a dental bridge in place
  • Cover a misshapen or discolored tooth
  • Support a tooth with a large filling
  • Provide support to a root canal treated tooth

Is A Dental Crown The Right Choice For Me?

Most people are ideal candidates for a crown. This cosmetic restoration can improve the appearance of a damaged tooth while also bringing back the tooth’s previous functionality.

After a dental crown is placed, most patients are able able to enjoy chewing without pain and to smile with confidence.

How Long Will A Crown Last?

Most crowns last between 5 and 15 years. It really depends on the wear and tear the dental crown is exposed to and the diligence of the patient’s dental hygiene.

A crown should be treated just like your natural teeth, so regular cleanings and checkups at Huckabee Dental are important!
